As more of us are living longer lives, we look for ways to bring quality to our longevity. For many of us it is staying physically fit. For others, we know that there is dementia in our heritage and we look for ways to avoid what we saw happen to our mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, or even our brothers and sisters. While medical progress on dementia (Alzheimer's being the most talked about form) has been slow, none-the-less vital information on dementia is already in. These studies tell us that we must "use it or lose it." Becoming/remaining mentally active is our best bet for delaying or avoiding dementia. Click HERE to review this evidence. If you know of others, send them to me and I will included them. There are two others activities that I use daily. LOGO and Basic HTML. Finding the available tutorials inadequate for the needs of seniors, I made my own. LOGO is a computer programming language that allows me to use analysis, perspective, planning, and basic mathematics to create beautiful graphics. I find this attractive because I have no artistic abilities, and LOGO allows me to be creative without being artistic. And LOGO is free! All you need is an online computer. Once LOGO is downloaded from the internet, LOGO can be used while offline. Another mentally stimulating activity is Basic HTML , the language used to develop web pages. Basic HTML does not utilize composers, so it is more analytical and requires more precision, perspective and planning. I also teach Basic HTML for anyone who might want to learn website development. Why is this guy offering to teach these things for free? It is because teaching LOGO ad HTML is mentally stimulating activity. It involves application and problem solving.
